About this Site - Dr. Scott A. Saunders

Do you know what street in the neighborhood had the first residents in PersimmonRidge?

If you guessed Oak Tree Lane you guessed correctly!  Al and Joan Tracy were the very first residents of Persimmon Ridge at 9 Oak Tree Lane in 1990.  Joining them between1990 and 1992 were the Jacobi's, Just's, Mann’s, Horne's, Burkhardt's, Colbert's, Akers, Bruno’s, Grantz's, Spellman’s, Schmidt’s, Edward's and York’s.   And even though some of our original neighbors have passed away, 10 of those families still call PersimmonRidge home!  What does that say about the awesome community we live in?

Sink Hole Fixed on Arthur Hills Way

As some of you know a sink hole has been continuing to open up in the common area on Arthur Hills Way.  The PR HOA obtained a professional company to evaluate the sinkhole and develop an action plan to fix the hole and remove any safety concerns with it.Below are details around the solution for the sink hole:

  • An approximately 12 by 20 foot excavation was made to a depth of 10 feet to locate the throat of the sinkhole using a mini excavator.
  • During excavation, rip rap and construction debris (concrete rubble, metal sheeting, plastic tarp) were removed from the sinkhole.
  • Upon reaching a depth of approximately 8 ½ feet, organic material such as tree stumps and wood was encountered. After removal of the stumps and construction of debris, the sinkhole throat was located.
  • The area around the throat was dug out to a depth of about 10 feet, where native clay was encountered. After cleaning out the throat of the sinkhole, a 7-ounce non-woven geotextile was placed within the excavation.
  • Approximately 25 tons of KY gradation No. 3 stones were poured into the excavation, and the geotextile was wrapped around the stones to create the filter. An approximately 18-inch layer of clay was placed and compacted with the excavator above the filter.
  • After remediation of the sinkhole, rip rap was removed the bottom of the drainage ditch and the underlying soil was regraded to allow the surface water run off to drain to the creek more efficiently.
  • A sight level and grade rod was used to verify a downward slope was achieved.
  • After grading the drainage ditch, the rip rap was replaced. Seed and straw was placed in areas disturbed by the excavation and grading.

Community Reminders

Reminders as we head into Spring...

Here are a few reminders for homeowners as we move into the warmer months of the year to ensure neat and attractive in appearance.

  • Cut back wild grasses
  • Power wash algae from walls, driveways, and steps
  • Remove dead trees and dead bushes
  • Weed and trim landscape beds
  • No contractor signs allowed in yards per the covenants and sign policy
  • Mailboxes should be in good condition (this includes paint, numbers, etc).  The HOA will be providing loaner paint again in 2025 if you need to paint your mailbox.  Please text Connie Colbert at 502-387-7015 and she will add you to the list to borrow paint.
  • Ensure trash cans are kept neat and attractive in appearance if kept outside of your garage

Cornerstone does conduct periodic drive throughs and the drive through in June will look for any dead trees that needing removal.   Letters will be sent out to any owner who has a dead tree on a lot.  Dead or dying trees are dangerous and should be removed. Residents should evaluate their lot for dead or dying trees and work toward having them removed in the next couple months.

A copy of the covenants can be found here to see other items that each homeowner is responsible for.  Link to Covenants
