Shelby Energy Work Notice in July

Shelby Electric.png

Here is a note from Shelby Energy detailing an upcoming project that will impact parts of the neighborhood. Impacted homes will receive an email from Cornerstone as well.Shelby Energy will be reaching out directly to residents impacted as well.

June 23, 2025

Dear Persimmon Ridge Homeowners,

We are writing today to inform you about an upcoming electrical infrastructure upgrade within your community, specifically related to the replacement of direct-buried 3-phase power lines that were installed when the development began in 1988. Due to the age and condition of these lines, which have exceeded their 30-year lifespan, we are undertaking a project to replace them with new conduit-based lines. This upgrade is necessary to improve the reliability of the electrical system and to ensure long-term sustainability.

The project will begin on July 14, 2025, weather permitting, and will be completed in three sections as follows:

  • Section 1: Starting at the Irrigation Lake and Wastewater Lagoon, working downPersimmon Ridge Drive to Oak Tree Lane.
  • Section 2: Oak Tree Lane.
  • Section 3: Along the Clubhouse to the transformer at Elmore Just Drive and CherryHills Lane.

For each section, we will bore and install conduit before any power shutdowns occur.Once the new lines are ready to be connected, there will be a 6–8 hour power outage for each section while the lines are placed. Homeowners will receive a 48 hour notice prior to any planned outage, as well as a same day notice the morning of the outage. We will notify homeowners directly through text and email if that information is provided on your Shelby Energy membership. Additionally, we will inform the HOA in advance of each outage.

Each section of the project is expected to take 1-2 months to complete depending on weather conditions and the need to work through rock. We will not proceed with the next section until the current section is fully completed, minimizing disruptions.

The new infrastructure will also assist Shelby Energy in isolating power outage during storms, reducing future service interruptions for the community.

We want to assure you that while work is being conducted, no area will be impassable. We kindly ask that homeowners avoid disturbing our staking flags and inform us if they have any irrigation system that may be affected by the construction.

Thank you for your cooperation and support while we work to enhance your community’s infrastructure. We look forward to sharing more information with you as the project progresses.

Sincerely,

Jack Bragg Jr.

Persimmon Ridge Resident Vying for Re-Election on Pewee Valley Fire District'sBoard of Directors

Here is a note from a fellow PR resident, Rick Williams, who is running for re-election for a spot on the Pewee Valley Fire District Board of Directors.

Dear Persimmon Ridge Neighbors,

As many of you know, I have been volunteering my time to serve as a member on theBoard of Directors of the Pewee Valley Fire District.  For the last several years I have been serving as the secretary on the board. The Pewee Valley Fire District encompasses western Shelby County including Persimmon Ridge and the area around and including Pewee Valley in Oldham County.

You may not know that my position on the board is an elected position by the taxpayers which is up for re-election every four years. This has not been an issue for the last several elections as I have always run unopposed.  However, this time around I understand that there are two other candidates who are running to be on the board. The only thing I know about these candidates is that they are not members of thePersimmon Ridge community.

I feel it is important that the Pewee Valley Fire District board have Persimmon Ridge representation on the board so that we can continue to have a voice. An example of this is when we built a second fire station on Ash Avenue to benefit the residents ofPersimmon Ridge and the western Shelby county parts of the district. Many of thePewee Valley city residents opposed the station despite approximately 1/3 of the tax receipts coming from Shelby county. Having Persimmon Ridge residents (including myself) on the board to ensure we receive the same quality and timely fire protection services as the rest of the district made the difference.

The election for my position will be held this Saturday, June 28, from 11:00am-2:00pm at fire station #1 in Pewee Valley, 8601 Foley Ave, just off LaGrange Rd. If you have the time, and are so inclined, I would appreciate you stopping by the station to vote. You must have identification to show that you live within the district.

Regards,

Rick Williams

Community Reminders

Weeds in the neighborhood

It has been reported to the PR HOA Board that there are many lots in the community that are overgrown with clover. The best way to combat clover is to keep your mower height set above 3 inches and to apply fertilizer in the spring. Killing clover does require consistent chemical applications. If your yard has clover, please do what you can to get it under control as the community’s CC&Rs do not permit lots to be overtaken with weeds.

A copy of the covenants can be found at the link below to see other items that each homeowner is responsible for. Section 7: Duty to Maintain and Rebuild on page 10 is the section that details lots needing to be free from weeds.
