Security Lighting Tips

Security - Handwriting image

Key Strategies for Security Lighting

  • Target Entry Points & Dark Zones: Doors and windows and look to eliminate hiding places
  • Incorporate Smart & Timed Lighting: Use smart controls or timers to have lights turn on and off randomly when you're away, simulating occupancy.
  • Match Lighting to Cameras: Ensure your lights enhance, rather than hinder, security cameras by preventing glare and providing adequate illumination for clear video.

Pro Tips:

  • Comprehensive Coverage: Light your entire property, not just the front.
  • Angle Lights Upward: Aim spotlights up at second-story windows from the ground or use down lights under eaves.
  • Consider Neighbors: Mount lights high enough to avoid glaring into neighbors' windows

Christmas tree collection - Kitchener - LocalWiki

🎄 Post-Holiday Decoration and Tree Collection Details

We’ve noticed some confusion regarding Christmas tree pickup. Waste Management(WM) will collect holiday trees only as part of regular yard waste service. Residents who subscribe to yard waste service may place their tree out for collection on their next scheduled pickup day.

Residents who do not have yard waste service should note that WM will not collect their tree, and it will need to be disposed of through another method.

Additionally, a reminder that holiday decorations should be taken down by now. Thank you to everyone who has already done so and helped return the neighborhood to its usual appearance.

CSA Program Coming This Spring

Residents may be interested in a local Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)program offered this year by Deutsch Family Farm, a fourth-generation family farm in our area. This is their 6th year coming to the neighborhood.  CSA members receive weekly bags of fresh, seasonal produce for 20 weeks, with items changing throughout the growing season—from spring greens to summer vegetables and fall crops.

A neighborhood pickup location will again be available at the Persimmon Ridge pool parking lot, with a projected start date of May 14, 2026 (weather permitting).

Please note that this CSA program is not sponsored or managed by the HOA; the HOA is simply sharing this information as a courtesy to residents.

For pricing, sign-up details, or questions, residents may contact Deutsch Family Farm directly at deutschfarmllc@gmail.com or 502-252-1400.

Community Reminders

Deepa's Kaleidoscope: Mumbai Madness - Slow Down!

Please Slow Down & Obey Traffic Signs — Neighborhood Safety Reminder

We have received several complaints regarding speeding in the neighborhood and would like to remind residents and their guests to watch their speed while driving through our streets. Our community is shared by walkers, children, and pets, and excessive speed puts everyone at risk.

The HOA has contacted the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, and they have increased patrols within the neighborhood to monitor speeding and failure to stop at stop signs.

We also ask residents who walk in the neighborhood during evening or nighttime hours to take extra precautions to make themselves visible. With limited street lighting and the shorter winter days, it can be difficult for drivers to see pedestrians and pets.Wearing reflective clothing, using lights, or carrying a flashlight can help improve visibility and safety.

Slowing down, obeying traffic signs, and staying visible all help prevent accidents and injuries and keep our neighborhood safe and welcoming for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation and consideration.

Maintenance - Handwriting image

Spring Is Around the Corner — Let’s Freshen Up Our Neighborhood!

As we welcome the approach of spring, it’s a great time for residents to take a look around their homes and lots and begin tidying up after the winter months. A little early maintenance goes a long way in keeping our neighborhood looking its best and staying safe for everyone.

Please remember to keep lots well maintained, including clearing debris, trimming overgrowth, and addressing areas that may have become slippery or unsightly over the winter. In particular, algae buildup on steps, walkways, and retaining walls can create a slip hazard and should be cleaned as weather permits. We also ask residents to check their mailboxes and mailbox areas to ensure they are upright, in good repair, and free from overgrowth or damage.

Thank you for taking pride in our community and helping keep the neighborhood clean, safe, and welcoming as we head into the spring season. If you have questions about maintenance guidelines, please feel free to reach out to the HOA.
