About this Site - Dr. Scott A. Saunders

Did you know there is a cemetery in Persimmon Ridge?

The Just Family Cemetery is close to Hole #7 on Persimmon Ridge Golf Course, andElmore Just is buried in the Cemetery.  Any golfer that birdies the 7th hole ofPersimmon Ridge takes their ball and places it on Elmore’s gravesite.

How did the tradition of putting a golf ball on Elmore’s grave get started?

The summer after Elmore Just died, his widow, Lawren Just, was walking through the dining room at Persimmon Ridge Golf Club.  “One of the members said, ‘Elmore got my golf ball on the seventh hole today.'” Lawren knew that the family cemetery was well away from the green and said “Oh, gosh, you hit that far right?’ And he said, ‘No, I birdied the seventh hole.’" And she looked at him kind of funny.  Little did the golfer know that he started a new tradition.  Whenever a golfer birdies the seventh hole atPersimmon Ridge, they leave a ball on Elmore’s grave.

Key Fob System and New Fence

The PR HOA Board is excited to announce that the new fence project has been completed for the pool and entrance to the playground.  We are in the process of planning for the installation of a key fob system to access the playground, pool, and tennis courts.  All homeowners in Persimmon Ridge have access to these amenities by paying their HOA dues each year.

The new key fob system will allow homeowners, who are current on their dues and have paid any fines, access to the playground, pool, and tennis courts by using their key fob to unlock the gates.  Each lot owner will receive ONE key fob and has the ability to purchase a second key fob.  The new key fob policy and process will be outlined in an upcoming email blast.

The Overlook

The Board has approved allowing residents of the Overlook to pay the following rates to use PR amenities:

  • Pool/Playground access: $600 per year
  • Tennis Court access: $250 per year
  • Blackout dates for use: May 26, July 4, Sept 1

Playground

Swings have been added to the playground and can now be used! We appreciate everyone's patience as we completed the playground project.

PLEASE NOTE: For all homeowners with an outstanding balance OR an outstanding violation on their account after May 1, 2025, access to the pool, playground, tennis courts, and the Persimmon Ridge Facebook page will be revoked until the account is brought up to date and current on all dues and violations, including any assessed fines.  The amenities (including Facebook) are only available to current residents of Persimmon Ridge.

Mailbox Design Update

At the March board meeting, there was discussion around allowing mailboxes that matched the materials on the home, such as brick or stone, in Persimmon Ridge outside of the estate lots.  That motion was approved and residents can now build mailboxes made out of brick, stone, or other materials that match the home.  All designs and materials need to be approved by the ARC prior to beginning construction. Please submit the Architectural Review Form to Cornerstone.

IN NEED OF AN EVENTS COORDINATOR (Thunder and other events at risk for2025)

Canada's Anglo-Celtic Connections: Call for nominations

We currently have an Events Coordinator position open on the board for 2025.  TheEvents Coordinator would manage the Thunder over Persimmon Ridge firework event coming up in July as well as several other events later in the year, such as the SantaVisit and Light Decorating Contest.  Please note that if we do not have an EventsCoordinator, then these traditions are in jeopardy of not continuing for 2025.  The current board is at capacity and does not have the ability to manage these events.

Please include a short bio (50 words or less) stating why you are interested in serving on the board. If you are interested in serving your community, please notify Melinda atCornerstone via email at melinda@contactcornerstone.com.

Reminders as we head into Spring...

Here are a few reminders for homeowners as we move into the warmer months of the year.

  • Cut back wild grasses
  • Power wash algae from walls, driveways, and steps
  • Remove dead trees and dead bushes
  • Weed and trim landscape beds
  • No contractor signs allowed in yards per the covenants and sign policy

Cornerstone will be conducting a drive through in June to look for any dead trees that need to be removed.  Letters will be sent out to any owner who has a dead tree on a lot. Dead or dying trees are dangerous and should be removed. Folks should evaluate their lot for dead or dying trees and work toward having them removed in the next couple months.

Habitual On-Street Parking is Prohibited

Please remember that continuous or habitual on-street parking is prohibited per theCC&Rs in Section 4.  Notices will be sent out to lot owners where this is occurring regularly.  Please be respectful of your neighbors as this can create difficulty with getting out of driveways and having trucks make deliveries.  This is also a safety hazard as this can prevent firetrucks or other emergency vehicles from making it through to reach an emergency in a timely manner.
